Sometimes the formal interview process is not the most effective way to proceed with regard gathering information.  At these times other interpersonal communication strategies may be more conducive for gaining information.  An accomplished interviewer can learn how to advance beyond the question – answer process to a more indirect methodology for gaining information from another.
