SPEAKER BIO:  John Shu is an attorney at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth in Newport Beach,
California.  His professional focus areas include securities litigation, complex litigation, appeals,
dispute resolution, internal investigations, crisis management, and international affairs.  Mr. Shu
advises U.S. companies both domestically and internationally and foreign companies doing
business in the United States.

Mr. Shu served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paul H. Roney, United States Court of Appeals for
the Eleventh Circuit, and as a judicial extern to the Honorable Stanley Sporkin, United States
District Court for the District of Columbia.

Mr. Shu served in the White House under President George H. W. Bush and in Bush/Cheney
Transition Headquarters under then-President-elect George W. Bush. Mr. Shu has given talks on
appellate advocacy, securities, antitrust, the federal sentencing guidelines, and a wide variety of
international relations and foreign policy issues.   

He holds a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, a G.C. from Peking University, and a B.
A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations
and a Member of the National Committee on U.S. - China Relations, the Pacific Council on
International Policy, and the Foreign Policy Association.
