TOPIC: "Understanding and Complying with Breach Notification Laws"

SPEAKER: Scott M. Giordano, Esq., MBA, MS, CFE, GSEC

DESCRIPTION OF SPEECH: Mr. Giordano's presentation will describe legal compliance
responsibilities and best practices resulting from data breaches of personally identifiable
information under California law.  Case studies from ChoicePoint, Card Systems and a variety of
medical institutions will be used to explain the scope of these regulations.

SPEAKER BIO:  B.S., Business Administration (Marketing), cum laude, Long Beach State
University; Juris Doctor & MBA, Santa Clara University; M.S., Economic Crime Management, Utica
College (Syracuse University).

Mr. Giordano spent nearly eight years at the LexisNexis corporation (a division of publisher Reed-
Elsevier) as a consultant and instructor.  There he taught principles of electronic research to law
students and advised private attorneys, corporate counsel, judges and a variety of law
enforcement agencies and corporate security teams on open-source intelligence (OSI).  He was
the founder and team leader of the Nexis Government Technology Task Force, responsible for
technology consulting both to internal and external customers.  He joined the newly-formed
LexisNexis Risk Solutions Group in March of 2001 as a Risk Management Consultant.  In that
capacity he was responsible for consulting on the company's products and processes that assist
in conducting due diligence, Internet surveillance and economic crime management.  He has
taught, as an adjunct professor, The Law of the Internet, The Law of Electronic Commerce and
Electronic Evidence & Discovery at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and Legal Concepts of
Criminal Fraud and Corporate Criminal Liability at Utica College in New York.  He is Carson Huffer’
s expert in electronic due diligence and analysis.
