TOPIC:  “Assessing the Risk of Fraud in a Global Economy”

SPEAKER:  Dr. Jerry Wald, Ph.D, Ernst & Young, LLP

DESCRIPTION OF SPEECH: Fraud has become a major concern for global
corporations and for any company having business internationally.  Any company
doing business internationally should be increasingly concerned about how they can
assess their fraud risk exposure and putting systems into place to address these
risks.  Issues answered will include:

1)     What fraud events and trends led to the heightened awareness of fraud risk
2)     How some companies are going about assessing their risks
3)     What monitoring and control systems are introduced to address these risks

Examples from multiple industries will be used to illustrate the point and ties to the
ACFE, AICPA, and IIA's joint exposure draft regarding guidance to organizations on
establishing an approach to managing the risk of fraud entitled "Managing the
Business Risk of Fraud: A Practical Guide" will also be used.
