| TOPIC: Financial Crime Investigation - SoCal: Bank Dicks in Action SPEAKER: R. Stephen Peel, CFE SPEAKER BIO: R. Stephen Peel, CFE, has been investigating fraud in various arenas since 1982. He is currently a Financial Crime Investigator for Wells Fargo Bank in the Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas and is an active member in the Los Angeles Chapter of the ACFE. DESCRIPTION OF SPEECH: With his wry sense of humor & wit, Stephen jokingly said that his speech could be subtitled 'Black Bart and the New Millennium'. But if we think back to the classic bank robbing lessons in 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' these quotes may give us an inkling of what he may be covering re: current state-of-the-art bank investigation methodology. Ryan, CFE, CPA, CFS - Alcohol, Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau WEB BIO: Daniel Ryan has served as the district director of the Los Angeles Office of the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) of the U.S. Department of Treasury. Prior to TTB, Mr. Ryan was a Senior Investigative Forensic Auditor with ATF for eight years and a member of the U.S. Secret Service Los Angeles Electronic Crimes Task Force. Mr. Ryan graduated from Georgetown University with a BS in Business Administration and a master’s of Accounting. He is also an adjunct professor of Forensic Accounting at California State University, Los Angeles. |
